It took me a couple of days to come to terms with the fact that my beloved soulmate Benn is no longer here with me 😔 and even now that I am writing this to you – tears are flowing. Well – he has been with me for the last 8 years
and I remember the day I picked him up in January 2013… he was so happy running around like a lunatic 🙂
From then on – he lit up my face and many of those he met with his unforgettable smile. Everywhere he went, he was a pleasure to all he met and that right up to the end. He never once complained about the pain that he had. From one of the first visits to the vet it was clear that he will have problems with the hips and elbows. The x-ray showed very clearly that over time there has never been enough muscles been built due to lack of movement. However the vet did a fantastic job over the years keeping him pain free and mobile.
Benn had seen a lot of the world and he absolutely loved going to the island of Rømø. We have been to Rømø lots of times and I guess he just loved the peace of the place. Just as I do!
He loved the beach and strolling around there was his thing… reading all the messages from the other dogs and of course – leaving messages as well.
So today – I am saying good bye to a lovely companion, my soulmate, a friend. Thank you for letting me be part of your life and time and time again showing me this wonderful face and lovely smile. Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life. You can run free now – without pain – and play with all those friends of yours. It has been an honour to be at the other end of the leash. I will never forget you – you’re gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace wonderful Benn… I will always love you there will be a special place in my heart.
A special thanks goes to Johanna, who has taken care of Benn many many times. Thank you so much ❤️ and to Mechthild – who put up with a lot since Benn has left ❤️
